English Language Challenges

Hello folks!. Well, I'm writing this post with the purpose of telling you about my blogging experience after all this semester, I must say that I enjoy and learn a lot about this wonderful language while I did the blogs and talked with my partners. Specifically about the use of blogs I must say that they were well focused, because some blogs teach us about traveling (we must learn some terms like book a room if we want to stay in a hotel for example), a future job related with our career, and the importance of our career, so, in a nutshell, the blogs help us in a didactic way how to write correctly.

All the lessons to which I have attended improved my English with new words and expressions, but the orthography is something that I have to practice a lot, I think that I have to write more frequently, and it will be writing a book, or anything else, I'm not sure about what to do.

All this knowledge of English will be useful when I have to read some scientific articles that help me to do my thesis, or when I'll go to another country like Canada, united kingdom, or united estates for example. Actually I'm not using English because I live in Chile, a Spanish language country, so, right now I'm not practicing the English in any form either written or orally.

Compiling all this knowledge of this language thanks to the classes of English that I had I'm sure that I'll go travel some countries like Canada or united estates for tourism and get a future work.

Problems and what you did to solve them

Animals, a lot of people love animals. In my case, with my girlfriend we have ten animals (three cats, two hamsters, one mouse, two turtles, and two dogs)  all of them are wonderful, they're so cute and we play with them everyday, so, the problem is that the animals must do their necessities and we have to clean it. every time that I have to clean the turtles' filter  or the cages of the hamsters and the mouse
I feel very rumpled  because I know that after that I will be exhausted, at least the dogs and the cats do their own in the backyard, so that's something positive. the most of the time my girlfriend help me to clean the filter or the cages of the animals so, that's another positive thing.
well, to clean the turtles filter I just replace all the things(active carbon, sponges) that I use with a new clean stuff, washing the filter, the hoses of the filter and the pool of the turtles previously.

the pool of my turtles                     one of my turtles                       the external filter that we have to                                                                                                               clean

the next thing is clean the cages of the hamsters and the mouse:
The method the same in each cage, The food deposits and their water bottle are removed from each cage, and then the cage and the wheels where they do exercise are washed, after that, we dry the cages and the wheels with a towel and put everything that they need (shavings of paper, food, water bottle).

coquito's house (my mouse)

arenita's house (my second house)

In a nutshell every month I have to solve this problems. but Is compensated with the love that my pets give me.

postgraduate studies

Well, if I would like to take a post grade course in the future, I think that a master in clinical biochemistry would be the most possible option, because, a job in clinical biochemistry is like a 9-to-5-job, in these kinds of job you receive a sample of a person and you must analyze any problem that you can see (Putting part of the sample in different tests to see if there is any abnormality). Luckily this master can be taken in the university of Chile and there is also a discount for the students of our faculty (around 60 to 100% of the total cost), so, I will surely go to study this in a future. The system of the master in clinical biochemistry in the university of Chile is an elective part-time course (face-to-face) that in my opinion is the most effective course. It would be that they think twice, because the postgraduate studies only serve for specific areas of some labors field, and depending on what you want to work, may or may not serve you something, for example, you will not have a postgraduate study based In toxicology if you graduated as a graphic designer, in addition you have to take into account the price to study those postgraduate courses, there are courses that cost 180000 pounds (1500000 Chilean pesos) per year, and last but not least, you must have the motivation to study that postgraduate course, if you are not interested, then: what is it going to serve you ?. Therefore, my advice is that, as I said earlier, think twice, reflect on this decision, and do not regret.

My Future Job

I will always love to have a 9-to-5-job because they are more stables in my point of view. Since I met my girlfriend, I realise that she will become my future wife, so, that make me think, if I want to have a family, is necessary a stable-well paid job to keep the family without the worries of unemployment, debts, etc.
so, if I imagine a job, it surely will be a job in a industry of aliments or drugs, even it can be a job about mining(that is a well job in a country like Chile, which has large industries in the field of mining), indoors obviously, near my home (half an hour of distance),because I want to spend a lot of time with my family. Rarely we will travel, only for conventions about aliment(drugs or mining) industries to learn more and apply some ideas to our company, so, I guess that will be like 3 or 8 days for year if it's to far, obviously I won't be in that conventions all the years, another person can replace me, so, in a nutshell I won't travel a lot.
the salary is the most important, because, this job must be well paid so I can satisfy the needs of my family, around 1500 bucks minimum it's enough for my and two persons more (my wife and a children)
I'm studying Biochemistry, a career that has both investigation and industrial jobs, but I decided to have an industrial job because is more stable and well paid that the investigation job (in Chile, in another countries is the other way around).

An important advance in the Biochemistry

A long time ago(1800-1970), scientist of that time knew the reason for the conversion of the starch to sugars by plant extracts and saliva, but the new question is: which are the mechanism to make that possible?
The discover of the enzymes (which comes from the Greek  ενζυμον "in leaven") called before ''ferments'' by Louis Pasteur answer this questions. An enzyme is a are macro-molecular biological catalyst which it has the function of speed up chemical reactions.
many scientist contributed separately:

-Louis Pasteur  In the 19th century concluded after his studies with the fermentation of sugar to alcohol by yeast that this fermentation is produced by a vital force (called ferments by Pasteur) that accelerates this reaction.

-Anselme Payen discovered in 1833 the first enzyme who called diastase

-Wilhelm Kühne coined the term enzyme in 1878

-Eduard Buchner in 1897 began to study the ability of yeast extracts to ferment sugar despite the absence of living yeast cells.  In a series of experiments, he found that the sugar was fermented even when there were no living yeast cells in the mixture(that means that the enzymes can live outside the living cell).

-James B. Sumner in 1926 showed that the enzyme urease was a pure protein (that means that the enzymes are formed by proteins, it implies that they can be affected by temperature, pH, but, they can live outside the cell)
All this knowledge gave answers to many scientists of the time and were the first steps to creating Enzymes and use in food industries.

Well, in a nutshell al this discovers were for good, and they make the aliment industries better in the synthesis of new products.

The most sad movie that I ever seen

Hachiko, a dog's story is one of these movies that makes me cry such that you'll have to go to the bathroom at least three times to wash your face full of tears.
A year ago I saw this movie with my girlfriend, and we both cry like babies. the history that tells you is very simple, a guy finds a dog in a train station after his work as professor, he adopts the dog (called hachiko because when the professor founds him the dog have a collar with that name) because the train station chief tell him that if he don't take the dog with him the dog will be abandoned.
After that, the dog accompany the professor to the train station every day and he waits is arrival in the night. Suddenly, the professor suffer a heart attack in the work and die, this is the sad part of the movie because hachiko waits his arrival every day. No matter what happens, no matter the weather, hachiko always stay in the front of the train station, waiting the arrival of his owner. And this fidelity touch my heart. I recommend this movie a lot.

The best Concert I ever had

In june 30 of 2016 my girlfriend and I went to the Kamelot concert in the blondie's club. Our second concert together after the Sonata Arctica concert 1 year ago. Well we woke up early to be in the first ones in the line, and we waited about 6 hours to see them arrive in a van, and I saw all the members,Thomas Youngblood, Sean Tibbetts, Casey Grillo, Oliver Palotai and Tommy Karevik, all of them went straight to  the blondie's door to prepare the instruments for the concert. we waited like 2 hours more after we entered to the club, and an opening act awaited us, an instrumental metal band, claudio cordero's trio, played us some of their themes, and they were amazing, the synchrony of the guitar, the bass, and the drums mix in a piece of audible art. after the opening act, kamelot arrive with all his power, all of our favourites song were played in the concert, and was amazing, all the people sang with them, were very sympathetic in general because they almost always did things with the public, for example, provide the microphone to a fan to sing a fragment of his songs or give Plectrums to the people, in short the concert had everything, I enjoy it so much. (one of the songs of the claudio cordero's trio)

THOMAS YOUNGBLOOD(GUITARS)
       TOMMY KAREVIK(VOCALS)
          SEAN TIBBETTS(BASS)

OLIVER PALOTAI(KEYBOARDS)
         CASEY GRILLO(DRUMS)

A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

I everyone, I'm back again, and I'm going to tell you (like the title said) about a country that I'd like to visit.
Japan is one of the most beautiful countries in my opinion, his culture (like the Japanese animation [anime] or his videogames, that travel around the world with a lot of fame [like mario bros, the legend of zelda, etc...], his music, visual arts, gardens etc.), customs, history, education, and progress in the science and technology are just amazing, and I' would like to go and know more about this incredible country.

Well, I know a little about japan, like, his legends and myths, some places like the cat island, or the Mont Fuji. About his food I don't know to much, and this is one of the reasons that I'd like to visit Japan.
If I travel with Japan (obviously with my girlfriend, if not she could kill me because she loves Japan too) the first place we'd go must be the cat island in tashirojima (because we love cats), the next place will be the bunny island in okunoshima (in a nutshell we love animals) and next we'd like to visit Tokyo (more specifically Akibahara)  and buy a lot of stuff that is in the photos.

In my opinion Japan is a great place to visit, but not a good place to work or live because you live for work the most of jobs in Japan (like 10-15 hours a day) so, I prefer another countries like Germany or Canada.

My blogging experience

What you think about the experience in general?
-Well, I think that this class (English III) was very enjoyable, it was nice to write about myself and science stuff. Every class was fun and I have no stress doing the posts of this blog, for example, one of my favorite class was when we have to do a post about our pets, and I love the animals so, in a nutshell the words flow like a river. Is very nice that the class weren't stressful, they were a grateful experience.

How much you feel your writing skills have developed?
-I think that I have learned so much along these lessons, my vocabulary was enriched every class with new forms of expressions that I have no idea that they would exist, and that's all thanks to English III.

What you would like to include in the future?
- I have no more ideas to include to this class, is a very creative class, the post themes in my opinion gave an incentive to the students to doing the post, so, in my opinion the way in which English III was made is just wonderful to me.

What else you would like to write about?
-I think that all the themes that I would like to write were used, except for one theme: ''how much do I know about (biology, chemistry, physics, etc)?'' and you would write about a theme that you like, for example: I will write about biology, more specific, about the immunologic system.

From the invisible to the visible world and back...

Copper Nanoparticles

1)What they are used for?
-Efficient catalyst.
-Conductive paste (electrical purposes).
-Sintering additive (example: reduce the temperature in the production of ceramic and diamond tools)
-medicinal and antibacterial purposes.
-lubricant additive (the copper nanoparticles mixed with lubricant decrease the friction surface and repair microdefects in the friction surface).

2)What importance they have in your career?
-The copper nanoparticles are important in the biochemistry because they have medical and antibacterial purposes (the copper nanoparticles don't harm the human body and show antibacterial and antifungal activity).

3)Why you chose them?
-Because in Chile, the copper is one of the most abundant resource, so, I think that the more uses we found with copper, the more benefits Chile will get.

4)What future use they may have?
In my point of view I see an only future to the copper nanoparticles, and this will be the Medicinal, antibacterial and antifungal treatments in the human body.

5)When you learned about them?
-When I was 17 years old, I read an article in internet that show me how the Chilean copper could be more useful if we sell it in nanoparticles instead of copper sheets, because we obtain a short amount of money.

6)What impact they may have in human welfare?
-the copper nanoparticles will do a lot of more benefits in the human welfare (examples in the answer 1) but we must do more research about this nanoparticle and the secrets that hide.

7)What advantages/disadvantages they may have?
-Advantages: The raw material is very common and cheap(In Chile), has various purposes.
-Disadvantages: It doesn't have the recognition that deserve

The most enjoyable subject thus far...

My favorite subject this term was chemical laboratory techniques because, the class is very simple, The teacher tell us what to do and we do it, I find it very enriching and enjoyable because, in the rest of the career we must need that knowledge, for example, we must wash the flasks 3 times before and after we use them, be careful with our instruments, because if we break, we pay, and this flask are expensives (example: burette= 50000 chilean pesos=75 usd)

Most of the class are practicals, but we start the class with a short introduction of what are we gonna do in the laboratory. Every class we have makes me more interested in the laboratory and what I be able to do the next week, And that's why I considered chemical laboratory techniques. Now I will try to explain how the class is organized.
Every class we have are supervised by 4 teachers, every teacher takes care about 20 students and only 2 teachers for 1 laboratory. The class have approximately 80 students, and every week we use materials that the 2 auxiliaries make (1 for laboratory).

Person or Expert you admire

She is Daniela Seelenfreund Hirsch, born in 24/12/1954, most of his studies were in the Swiss school in ñuñoa. she studies the career of biochemistry in the university of chile in the year 1974. now she is working in the faculty of  Chemistry and Pharmacy of universidad de chile, in the department of biochemistry and molecular biology, more specifically in the laboratory of molecular biology.
actually she is working in a investigation line related with the genetic analysis of paper mulberry (broussonetia papyrifera) and how this paper could be the key to understand the colonization of easter island.
Well, the reason of why I admire Daniela is that she use her time very well. I think that the most of the biochemical's doesn't have enough time to stay with the family or friends, but she is the exeption to that thought because she manage to use her time to make a family and be a good mother at the same time she was working, and that's why  I admire her.

About pets, love and friendship.

This is my cat, well, this is the cat of my girlfriend (Andrea <3 ) and I. his name is Tomas. Originally I meet this cat after be the boyfriend of Andrea and he always was and will be in our relationship. I really love this cat, not because he is a fat cat (12 kg approx), he's very lovely with anyone and love to receive love from other (specially with a car brush). he loves to eat chicken, one time my girlfriend found our Tomas searching for chicken in the fridge (he opens the fridge on his own) and after tell him '' Tomas what are you doing?'' He says ''meow'' and walk to his bed like nothing happened. Another thing that I love from Tomas is that he wants love in any moment, every time I see him he meow me and I think he wants to say ''brush my fur human, it's an order'' and well I have to follow his order every time He says meow. My favorite behavior of Tomas is that every time he sees a person lie down he climb in the chest or the back of that person and he starts to knead and purr very loudly. And the most funny behavior of Tomas is in the video down here, just indescribable.

 Uncensored Tomas

sometimes he seems very sleepy, but it's so cute.

One time I bought a marzipan version of him, I think he doesn't like it so I eat it with him (now he likes it XD). I really love this cat is like the representation of the relationship with Andrea, and when he says goodbye to us we will be really sad. But this day has not arrived yet, so I have to carry   him every day and tell him how much I love him.
We will love you forever Tomas <3

A photograph you like

This is the first photo that I took with my girlfriend, and one of the most important in my life. we took this selfie after the first month of relationship (around the 12 of june of 2014) and I love it because it show me how the relationship with my girlfriend start and how is now, and I have to say that goes really great, full of cheesy love and our couple troubles can be solved in less that 5 minutes, is really funny because I love her so much that I can't be angry with her, my dream is that this relationship stay forever. Well this photo is one of the most important in my life, but I want to show you two photos that are important in my life.

Here they are, the best pets that I have in my life, The first two are twins Siamese cats, the first one is Nero(the good one), and the second one is Dante(the black sheep). the white cat (and my favorite I have to say) is Tomas, the most fat cat that you can see in the country (15kg aprox). And I'm not forgetting the turtles. The first one is Thor(but is female after all these years I have no idea!!), and the photo of the left is Mentita(female), the duo Thor-Mentita. Well all these photos were taken along 2 years ago. these pets make me very happy and brought me good memories everyday, and this is the reason why I like it so much, because all these photos were taken at the same time that I was (and I'm) with my girlfriend
''I will always love you my lovely totita <3 forever<3''

About books and films

When I was young, about thirteen i see al lot of movies, but my favourite above all the others will be  ''The Butterfly Efect'' by Eric Bress.
When I saw the movie at the first time i was shocked, the possibility of the protagonist to change the future and make the movie very interesting, it has a lot of mixed feelings that combined with a great end make a great movie, I like it vey much  and I recommend it a lot.

My favourite book is ''Myst I: the book of Atrus''. It's about a fatherless child named Atrus that survive in the desert with her mother, one day the missing father come and take Atrus to the ruins of an ancient civilitation of people that have the power to enter in the books that they create, and change the world by write in the books. The story is amazing and i remomended a lot because it has fantasy, love, drama, sadness, moral fights, and a great end.

Your favourite piece of technology

What your favorite piece of technology is?

-Well I think that my first piece of technology was a computer, it was very old, but really good in entertainment, in this computer were my first video games (
pokemon
Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald editions, The Metroid saga, The legend of zelda saga, and final fantasy saga... well I guess it were quite a lot XD) and help me every day to make a smile, the video games of that computer make me how I am in the present and I don't regret anything.

When you got it?

-I don't know where I obtained exactly, but approximately at the age of six years.

How you use it?

-With a mouse and a keyboard.

How often you use it?

- between 5 and 6 hours. I like to stay in the computer and connected to internet

Why you like it?

- I like it for these reasons:

a)It allows me to be connected in the internet, and that means that I can get almost any knowledge of the world (including video games)

b)It allows me to make the homework very quickly because the computer have a lot of tools, like Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, etc.
c) It has the functions of another technology pieces, like DVD, TV, video game consoles, etc.

What life would be like without it?

-Very boring I have to say, because the computer make me very happy with the video games in the first years of my life, and make me what I am now.

Why did you choose my career?

Well, when i was a child my dream of my life was to be a doctor, able to heal everybody of any illness, but dreams are dreams and not always can come true. when i finish the high-school i realice that i not have the intelligence to be what i want to be, so i decided to explore other options. i like very much the science, specifically chemestry and biology so i decided to study biochemestry at first option, but, to be honest, after see the future of the biochemestryst in work, i don't like the career because the workplace is to poor. The most of the biochymestrist Works in investigation because they have no quotas in another Works like the SML(servicio medico legal) etc, thats why i don't like de career and i have to think to change the carrer to chemestry and farmaceutical industry, because of 2 reasons:
1)It has a good salary
2)You don't need a tesis at all to have the diploma, you can do a ''prectice'' in some industry and they evalue you and you will have your diploma too

I have another options to biochemestry, but i can't take them because i have a low score in the test called PSU. that options were medical technology and nursery.
After the time that i past in the university it was a good experience, i meet good friends and teachers, and without them i will not be what i am now.
Well, i hope my future job were the one that you work in a defined Schedule, a good salary and great coworkers.

Getting to know each other

Hi, my name is Eduardo Lamoza G. owner of the blog, and the propose of this entry is for introduce myself and tell you about a extract of my life.
Well to start, i was born in Santiago de Chile the 3rth of december of 1996, my life was very depressing at the beginning because ultil the 6° grade i was bullied in the college, but from 7°grade my life have been full of joy because i meet some of the best friends i ever have and the woman of my life, she is the reason of my happiness , and even more the reason of the title of this blog(macabeus maximus means that i love so much a person that i will do anything to make him happy).
well right know i'm studiying biochemestry in the university of chile, but i'm not quite convinced of the career, because it doesn't have a good pay at all, so i will  see if there's a possibility of a change of career.
